I am currently participating in an online Twitter course which uses the hashtag #twooc. Although I have been using Twitter for some time - mostly using and monitoring our Library account @HHLibService I sometimes feel that things are happening by chance. We want to engage more with staff from the Trusts that we serve (Hampshire Hospitals and Southern Health) and I'm hoping that over the course of the 12 days I will pick up a few hints on how to do this.
Inspired to write a blog post as I have linked to it on my own Twitter feed @junewhite3 so i thought I should add something!

As I was in Andover today when I was catching up with the 19 things prograame I thought I would find a picture of Andover that had a creative commons licence

Now 19 Things TW&W
So within the healthcare libraries in the Wessex and Thames valley region the online staff development course there is a module about blogs so I am reusing the one that I started for CPD23. It is still frustrating that it is difficult to access from work. Having now used Twitter I am not sure how useful blogs are for news but I think they do have a use as a diary, recording project developments, telling a story in somewhere.

A new year.
Taking the opportunity of a few spare minutes to reflect that it is almost a year since I started in my post as Knowledge Support Librarian. I have learnt a lot and am very aware that I still have much to learn but am beginning to feel that I am making a valid contribution to the work of the Library service.
I am enjoying the marketing part of my job and being involved in new developments I am getting to know more people and making more contacts. The coming year is full of change with the re-organisation of the NHS but also budget cuts that we know are coming our way. I know it will not be fun but it will be interesting. But being part of a supportive team will help.

Success!
Today I heard from one of the first people that I did a one to one training session with, that she has passed her course. She is very grateful for the help I provided. Feel very pleased and reassured that I can make a difference.

Thing 10 - Graduate traineeships, Masters Degrees, Chartership, Accreditation
Taking a few spare moments to catch up on what is happening in CPD23. Being a very mature person who has done her training and now many years work experience this subject is perhaps less relevant to me but I have to confess that despite 3 starts I have never yet completed my chartership. Why have I failed to submit? Time is a factor but also lack of confidence that anything I have done is valuable, though my library 'customers' have often told me how helpful I have been to them, a lack of interest from fellow colleagues when I have needed motivation and encouragement, a mentoring relationship that didn't work out. However I am now working in what I believe is a supportive environment and aim to get it done - eventually and certainly in time for me to collect my pension!
